An outstanding left-handed pitcher for the Chippewas, Curt was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 1981 and pitched professionally for 13 seasons ... major league mark was 69-53 with a 4.30 ERA ... was the lone left-handed starter for the two-time World Champion Athletics in the 1980s ... won 13 games in 1986 and '87 for the A's, and was the opening-day pitcher in 1987 ... played for Kansas City and the New York Yankees before finishing his career in Oakland ... came to CMU as a football player ... posted a 13-5 record in two baseball seasons with the Chippewas, earning second team and first team all-MAC laurels in 1980 and 1981 ... prep product of Saginaw Arthur Hill ... currently the pitching coach for the San Francisco Giants ... also coached for the Boston Red Sox and Oakland A's .
