Successful athlete and coach for the Chippewas ... fierce competitor who led the nation in free throw shooting in 1952-53 with 88.5 percent ... was team MVP in 1953 and was team's top scorer his last two seasons with marks of 10.2 and 16.5 ... also lettered in baseball for the Chippewas ... coached Central to three Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships and a runner-up in 14 years of coaching ... his teams were 193-179 ... CMU won MAC titles in 1974-75 going 22-6, in 1976-77 at 18-10 and in 1978-79 at 19-9 ... after coaching at the prep level, he returned to Central in 1962 as an assistant coach and became the head coach in 1971 ... MAC "Coach of the Year" in 1974-75.
