Versatile four-sport athlete who was nicknamed "Polecat" ... earned a total of 13 letters at CMU, graduating in 1940 ... won four letters in basketball and three each in baseball, football and track ... established a school pole vault record that lasted until 1950 and was listed as an end on the 1969 all-time Central team ... led the basketball team in scoring three times, setting a single-season mark of 201 points in 1939 and a career standard of 495 points ... spent 27 years coaching and serving as an athletic director on the high school level.
