The Chippewas' MVP and a second-team All-America pick, Ralph was a member of the 1971 baseball team that was the NCAA College Division national runner-up... won a record 12 game on the mound in 1971, a single-season record that stood for 17 years... hit .353 that year with 17 RBI and four home runs... was 12-1 with a save and a 2.24 ERA in 1971 while pitching 100.3 innings and striking out school-record 123 batters... compiled a 2.44 career ERA which ranked fifth in school history... an arm injury slowed him on the mound in 1972 but he hit .343 with a team-high 37 RBI and six home runs... had a career batting average of .335 with 60 RBI and 10 home runs... his career record on the mound was 16-8 with 227, then the third-most on CMU's career chart... a right-handed pitcher who batted from the left side of the plate... a native of River Rouge, Mich., who prepped at River Rouge High School.
