MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University men's track and field team performed well at the non-scoring Meyo Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday.
The Chippewas faced competition from Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Rice, and Butler.
Headlining the the two-day event for CMU was Clive Roberts performance in the 60m hurdles. Roberts finished in third place and his time of 7.88 was good enough to provisionally qualify him for the NCAA championship meet.
The best event for the Chippewas was the 60m dash. Johnie Drake continued his indoor success with a first-place finish while Roberts grabbed the third spot.
CMU distance runners also provided a spark for the Chippewas. Don Wilkins finished in second in the 5000m and Pete Remien turned in a third-place performance in the 3000m.
The Chippewas return to action next weekend when they compete in the Cannon-Butler Invitational. The two-day meet will begin on February 14.
