COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Central Michigan University men's track and field squad did not have as much success as it had when it won the Mid-American Conference championship two weeks ago, but did have some successes at the NCAA Mideast regional meet on Saturday.
The Chippewas wrapped up the second, and final day, competition without anyone qualifying for the NCAA championship meet.
Jeff Davis turned in the best performance of the day for CMU by finishing seventh in the steeplechase (9:05.87).
The 5000m saw three Chippewas finish 13th, 14th, and 15th. Tristen Perlberg (14:34.25), Dave Ernsberger (14:34.72), and Don Wilkins (14:36.81) accomplished the feat for CMU.
Pat Walderzak turned in a solid performance in the shot put. He finished 11th with a throw of 55-7 ?.
The lone Chippewa to qualify for the national championship meet was Steve Wolf. He took fourth in the high jump on Friday afternoon with a leap of 6-11 ?.
The NCAA championship meet will take place June 11-14 in Sacramento, California.
