MOUNT PLEASANT-- The Central Michigan University women's cross country team is in action this weekend at the 5k Notre Dame Invite, Friday, October 3 at 4:15 p.m.
The women had last week off to prepare and rest. Head Coach Karen Lutzke feels the week off helped the team.
"I felt we accomplished a lot," said Lutzke. "It gave us a mental and physical break, and enabled us to get some runners back in good health."
The Notre Dame Invite will include some of the nation's top-ranked women's teams including, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 16 Duke, and No. 30 Washington.
"This will be the most competitive meet we've been in this year," said Lutzke. " Among the 32 teams competing , three of them will be Mid- American Conference schools that we have not competed against this season. The women are excited and motivated, to race," said Lutzke.
The Chippewas will also see some familiar rivals at Notre Dame. MAC foes Akron, Ball State, and Western Michigan, will also be competing with CMU.
