Former Chippewas Compete at Olympic Trails

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Former Central Michigan University track athletes competed against some of the best in the nation this past weekend at the 2004 United States Olympic Trials in Sacramento, Calif.
Richie Brinker placed 15th in the 10,000m run and Jeff DeLong advanced to the 800m semifinals before finishing 16th overall.
Brinker (Hansons-Brooks Distance Project) placed 15th in the 22-person field of the 10,000m race. He rank 29:11.77 and the winner, Meb Keflezighi (Nike), ran 27:36.49.
DeLong ran the 800 in 1:47.06 on Friday to advance to Saturday's semifinals. There he ran 1:50.72 to place 16th overall. The top eight competitors advanced to Monday's finals.
Hurdler Greg Richardson (unattached) will compete in the 110m hurdles on July 17.
The top three athletes in each event qualify for the USA Olympic team.
