Marsh and Jones Lead Split Chippewa Squad at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Dave Jones' fifth place finish in the pole vault was the bright spot for the Central Michigan University men's track team on Friday at the Penn Relays. Jones vaulted 16-3/4, continuing his strong outdoor season. The Chippewas divided their squad this weekend, sending several athletes to both the Penn Relays and the Hillsdale Relays in Hillsdale, Mich.
Other notable performances at the Penn Relays include Mike Marsh's shot put toss of 56-3 1/ 4, good enough for a third place finish. Mike Sidlauskis threw the discus 162-11 for a 10th place showing. The majority of the running events at the Penn Relays are relay races, but the Chippewas had a few individuals also compete.
Pierre Vinson finished third in his 100m dash heat with a time of 10.83 seconds, and Clarence Glenn finished fourth in his 110m hurdles heat with a time of 14.03 seconds. In his first action in the outdoor season, Johnie Drake finished sixth in his 100m dash heat with a time of 11.2 seconds.Nick Stout was the other competitor for CMU, he finished fifth in his 400m hurdles heat with a time of 54.15 seconds.
Results are currently unavailable for the Hillsdale Relays. They will be passed along as soon as they become available.
Both meets will conclude on Saturday.
