Friess Sits in 11th After Day One of NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Jacob Friess sits in 11th place in the decathlon after day one of the NCAA Championships.
Friess earned 833 points in the long jump, 723 points in the high jump, 711 points in the 100m dash and 571 points in the shot put for a day one total of 3616.
Unfortunately, three Central Michigan University athletes were eliminated from competition on Wednesday. Dave Jones failed to make the starting height in the pole vault and neither Matt Loiselle's time of 8:55.57 in the 3,000m steeplechase nor Tamera Thomas' time of 13.79 seconds in the 100m hurdles was good enough to advance.
