MOUNT PLEASANT -- Scott Rex has been named assistant sports information director at Central Michigan University.
Rex will be the primary contact for the Chippewa football and baseball teams. He replaces Don Helinski who took over as sports information director on July 1. Helinski replaced longtime SID Fred Stabley Jr., who retired after 23 years.

He was an intern for the 2003-04 school year and assistant director in 2004-05. There he was the primary contact for the Leopards' Division I-AA football team which qualified for the playoffs last season. He also handled women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's lacrosse, and women's soccer.
The 24-year-old was an honors student and president's scholarship award recipient at Otterbein, in addition to earning two letters on the football team as a quarterback. Rex served as the sports editor of the Tan & Cardinal student newspaper and was a writer for the Sibyl Yearbook.
The Napoleon, Ohio native also assisted in the Otterbein SID office as a student.
Matt Park also joins the CMU SID office as an intern this year. The Brighton senior has been active in CMU's student electronic media the past two years. He was the sports director at Modern Rock 91.5 FM, CMU's student radio station last year. He will continue to work on the CMU football broadcasts as part of the CMU Sports Network.
