MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University Athletics Director Herb Deromedi has announced the promotion of Nick Williams to associate athletics director/external operations.
"Nick brings a tireless energy to our athletic programs and he has done an outstanding job since joining our staff," Deromedi said. "In restructuring our department, we felt it was important for one person to be in charge of all the external affairs. He's been doing a lot of that already with his marketing role and we feel he has the ability to not only handle our marketing, but our game operations and facilities as well."
Williams' new role will have him oversee marketing, promotions, sales, ticketing, game operations, facilities and spirit groups.
He had served as an assistant athletics director in charge of marketing since March 2002. Prior to that he was CMU's Chippewa Club Director for three years.
Williams was a catcher on the CMU baseball team for four years, earning second team All-MAC honors in 1995 and serving as captain in 1996.
Prior to heading up the Chippewa Club, the Hastings, Mich., native was an administrative assistant for the American Baseball Coaches Association for three and a half years.
Williams received both a master's and a bachelor's degree from CMU. He and his wife, Marnie, live in Mount Pleasant with their daughters Jayden (6) and Taryn (eight months). Marnie was a track and field athlete and basketball player at CMU as well.
