Chippewa Softball and Baseball to Visit Warm Weather Locales

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University's softball and baseball teams will be visiting Las Vegas and the state of Florida, respectively, in the upcoming months.
The softball squad opens its season at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic Feb. 17-19, then travels south for a nine-day swing through Florida. The Chippewas will compete in the Cox Communications Florida Invitational in Gainesville (March 3-5) and the Speedline Invitational in Clearwater (March 9-12) while also visiting Stetson University on March 7.
CMU baseball will also trek to Florida during spring break, taking the field for seven games in eight days as part of the IMG Academies spring program. The Chippewas will play five games in Bradenton and two in Clearwater at Jack Russell Stadium, the former spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
