Jackie Smart has been named the State Farm CMU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week. 

Smart won three events at the season-opening Chippewa Open on Friday. She captured the 60m hurdles in a personal-best time (8.84), won the triple jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 41-8 3/4, and prevailed in the long jump with another personal best (18-10 1/2). It was Smart's first action after sitting out all of last season with an injury. 

A health fitness major, Smart carries a 3.20 grade-point average. 

Each week, State Farm will recognize one male and one female student-athlete as its CMU Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
