MOUNT PLEASANT - Jeff Powers has been named the State Farm CMU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Powers was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships after claiming individual titles in the 3000m (8:11.41) and 5000m (14:13.52). He set meet records in both events and a new CMU record in the 3000. This is the second consecutive year he has swept the 3000m and 5000m at the indoor conference championships and claimed Most Outstanding Performer honors.

Powers is a senior majoring in psychology.

Each week, State Farm will recognize one male and one female student-athlete as its CMU Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
