MOUNT PLEASANT - Katie Simon has been named the State Farm CMU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Simon, a freshman with a 3.20 gpa, placed fourth with a career-best 9.825 on the floor exercise at the State of Michigan Classic. As a team, CMU scored a season-high 48.550 on the floor. The Chippewas finished ahead of conference rivals Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan at the event.

Simon also added a 9.775 on the vault and 9.70 on the uneven bars.

Each week, State Farm will recognize one male and one female student-athlete as its CMU Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
