Tate Named MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

University men’s track and field squad has been named the Mid-American Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Tate won the open division of the 400-meter run and set a new school record in the 500-meter run at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational. His time of 48.86 in the 400 meters is the second-fastest mark in the MAC this season. Tate also registered a time of 1:03.68 in the 500 meters to break the CMU school record and finish sixth.
It is the first conference honor for Tate in his career, and the first for a Chippewa men’s trickster this season.
Tate and the Chippewas will be back in action this weekend at the prestigious Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup hosted by
Penn
State. The two day meet will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10 in
