MOUNT PLEASANT - Brandon Sinnott has been named the State Farm CMU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Sinnott successfully defended his Mid-American Conference title at 174 pounds over the weekend. He won by major decision in both of his first two matches, then defeated Northern Illinois' Danny Burk, 10-4, in the final. With the championships, Sinnott earns his second consecutive automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

Sinnott's efforts also helped CMU collect its sixth consecutive MAC Championships team title.

Sinnott is a junior majoring in sociology.Each week, State Farm will recognize one male and one female student-athlete as its CMU Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
