Anderson Leads Chippewas at EMU Fall Classic

DEXTER, Mich. A late addition to the schedule gave some members of the Central Michigan University women’s cross country team one more opportunity to compete on Friday.

A partial squad of Chippewas ran at the Eastern Michigan University Fall Classic in Dexter, Mich. The non-scored 5K was held at Hudson Mills Metropark.

Freshman Holly Anderson paced CMU with a 10th-place finish. She ran 19:08 for her best time of the season.

“We had some good performances,” coach Karen Lutzke said. “The people who were competing for us were either freshmen or athletes who have been out for a while. Holly ran a good race and most of the other ladies ran season bests or were close.”

Andrea Kramer was 22nd in 19:50 and Rachael Wessel was 26th in 20:07. Kaitlin Baarck was 40th in 21:28 and Kelly Higgins 42nd in 21:31.

Next up for the Chippewas is the Mid-American Conference Championship meet at Eastern Michigan’s Eagle Crest Golf Course on Saturday, Nov. 1.
