Chippewas Wrap Up Competition at EMU Twilight

YPSILANTI, Mich. The Central Michigan University men’s track and field team took another step in preparation for the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday, competing in the Eastern Michigan Twilight in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The field athletes led the way for the Chippewas as Kevin Mays won the discus with a toss of 152-6 and Joseph Jankowski took second in the pole vault with a height of 15-0.
Senior distance runner Donnie Richmond posted a solid fourth-place finish in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in 14:58.80.
Marcell Maxwell posted a pair of top-five finishes on Saturday, taking third in the 100m (10.97) and fourth in the 200m (22.06) while Larry Dawkins II took fifth in the 200m with a time of 22.14.
Charles Stinson also had a solid day in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.96 to finish in fifth place.
Also finishing in the top 10 in the track events were Sammy Kiprotich in the 1500m (eighth; 3:55.75) and Branden Post in the 400m hurdles (53.70).
Other notable performers in the field events were George Flanner who took third in the discus with a throw of 143-4. Ryan McCullough finished fifth in the shot put (164-0) while Mychael King (sixth; 48-10 ), John Calvert (seventh; 48-6 ) and George Flanner (ninth; 47-7) also finished in the top 10 in the event.
Central returns to action on Friday when it competes in the Oregon Relays for two days in Eugene, Ore.
