Pilling Improves on Regional Qualifying Mark at Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Greg Pilling continued his impressive outdoor campaign and led all performers from the Central Michigan track and field team in day one of the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University.

Pilling matched a season best in the hammer throw with a toss of 189-9, finishing eighth in the event.

Sammy Kiprotich was another notable performer for the Chippewas as he finished just outside the top 10 in the 5000m, taking 11th after crossing the line in 14:36.47.

CMU wraps up competition at the meet tomorrow, events begin at 11 a.m.
