Chippewas Finish Fifth in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Central Michigan finished fifth overall and had two individual runners finish in the top eight at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships on Friday in Rochester, Mich.
Senior Brittany Dixon finished seventh in the 5K race with a time of 18:34.5. Sophomore Maddie Ribant finished eighth in the field of 224 runners with a time of 18:35.2.
CMU's other four finishers crossed the line in the top-86 as well. Senior Melissa Darling placed 39th with a time of 19:28.0. Junior Veronica Garcia ran a time of 19:33.2 to finish 42nd. Courtnay Hughes finished 83rd with a time of 20:25.4 and Jacquelyn McEnhill rounded out the Maroon and Gold lineup in 86th with a time of 20:31.1.
"We had a solid showing today," said director of track & field and cross country Willie Randolph. "The potential for our women's team to solidify a top spot in the MAC Championship meet later this month is even more realistic now."
The entire cross country program is back in action on Oct. 16, when the Chippewas head to the Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind.
