CMUChippewas.com will provide regular updates throughout the month of August on each of the Chippewas' fall programs as they prepare to make a run at a Mid-American Conference title.
First to open preseason camp will be the Chippewas' soccer program, the defending MAC regular season and tournament champion. Head coach Tom Anagnost's squad, which returns 10 starters from 2009, hits the practice field for the first time on Wednesday, Aug. 4.
First-year head football coach Dan Enos leads his first preseason practice on Friday, Aug. 6. Enos and his staff welcome back 41 lettermen from last year's squad that won the MAC championship and GMAC Bowl and finished ranked in the top-25 of both major national polls.
The Chippewa volleyball program opens preseason drills Monday, Aug. 9. Five starters return for head coach Erik Olson, who led CMU to the MAC Tournament semifinals in 2009.
Cristy Freese begins her 25th season as CMU's head field hockey coach on Thursday, Aug. 12. Ten of the 22 players on the roster entering camp are true freshmen.
Rounding out the fall sports slate is Willie Randolph's cross country program, which officially begins preseason workouts on Monday, Aug. 16. The men's and women's teams finished third and fourth, respectively, at the 2009 MAC Championships.
