Cross Country Women Ninth in Great Lakes Region

MOUNT PLEASANT - Following a third place finish in its division at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, the women's cross country team moved up to ninth from 13th in the Great Lakes Region in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Aassociation rankings released Monday.
The Chippewas also jumped Eastern Michigan to become the third-highest ranked MAC team in the region, behind sixth-ranked Toledo and No. 8 Miami. Also ranked from the MAC are Ohio (14) and Eastern Michigan (15).
USTFCCCA rankings are released each Monday, but next week's rankings will be a repeat of this week's, with a new ranking set to be released Oct. 17. The Chippewas will have two meets during that timeframe to boost their rankings.
Central Michigan finished third in its division at the Notre Dame Invitational, and had four runners in the top-11 of the race. All five of the Chippewas' scoring runners set career highs at the meet, including third-place finisher senior Raeanne Lohner, who finished in 17:50.
Both the women's and men's teams are in action again this Friday at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships in Hillsdale at 4 p.m.
