CMU at Temple: Postgame Notes

Temple shot .434 from the floor marking the first time this season that a Chippewa opponent shot better than 40 percent. CMU did hold the Owls below their season average of 45 percent. Central entered the game ranked sixth nationally in field goal percentage defense at .329.
Saturday’s game marked the second time this season that the Chippewas had two players hit the 20-point plateau. Both Andre Coimbra and Trey Zeigler tallied 22 points against Temple. Earlier this year against UC Irvine, Olivier Mbaigoto had 23 and Trey Zeigler 21.
Trey Zeigler has scored 20-plus in three straight games and four times overall this season. It is the third time in his career he’s had three straight 20-point games. Zeigler has been in double figures in all seven games this season.
Andre Coimbra scored a career high 22 points. His old career high was 14 on two occasions. Coimbra had 15 at the half against Temple.
CMU shot a season-high .793 from the free throw line going 23-for-29. The old mark was .692 set in the previous game against Dartmouth.
The Chippewas gave up 51 points in the first half, the most allowed by CMU in a half this season.
CMU fell to 0-2 all-time against Temple. CMU is now 0-3 against Atlantic-10 schools under Ernie Zeigler.
Austin McBroom hit two 3-pointers in the game, extending his consecutive games with a trey streak to seven.
Andre Coimbra added another three blocked shots to bring his season total to 14. He is averaging 2.0 blocks per game and is on pace to finish in the top five on CMU’s single season blocks list.
