Mays Selected Outstanding Field Event Performer

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Central Michigan thrower Kevin Mays was named the Outstanding Field Event Performer at the 2011 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The conference's head coaches selected Mays for the award after he won the weight throw with a career-best toss of 67-6 1/4 on Friday. His mark was nearly two feet better than the runner-up in the event, is the best in the MAC this season and ranks 14th nationally this season.

Mays is the first Chippewa to earn the outstanding field event performer honor at the MAC Indoor Championships.

CMU's men finished fifth and the women placed seventh at the 2011 MAC Indoor Championships.
