MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan men's basketball team will look to rebound after last Saturday's tough loss when it faces Pepperdine Sunday at 8 p.m.
The Chippewas (4-4) will square off against the Waves (6-3) and try to halt their win streak. Pepperdine has won six of their last seven contests and remain undefeated (3-0) at home.
The young Chippewas have displayed the ability to win in close games, winning four games this season by an average of 5.5 points per game. Central Michigan looks to repeat last year's efforts in Malibu, as the 2011 Chippewas came away with a 67-57 victory over the Waves.
Senior guard Kyle Randall leads the Chippewas with 20.0 points per game in the month of December. • THE MATCHUP

• THE OPENING TIP
• The Chippewas were on the East Coast last weekend before taking a week off for final exams. They pick back up this week on the West Coast and visit Texas next week.
• Kyle Randall has led the team in scoring each of the last three games and in rebounding two of those three games. He is averaging 20 points during that span.
• Randall became the league leader at the free throw line last week, (.900, 36-40) and is tied for 38th nationally.
• THE SERIES
• QUOTABLE
• "It says a lot about the character of our group and having extreme confidence. I think being able to channel that in a way that is effective late in games is a sign of good things to come."
(Keno Davis leading into the game at Pepperdine)
