MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan men’s basketball player John Simons has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for his performance against Manchester last Friday.
Simons led Central Michigan with a career-high 27 points and nine rebounds in just 19 minutes of action. The sophomore forward was 10-of-13 from the field, including 3-for-5 from behind the three-point line, and made all four of his free throws. After the first week of action in the MAC, Simons leads the conference in scoring and rebounding.
This is the first time that Simons, a Cadillac, Mich., native, has earned this honor. The last CMU men’s basketball player be selected was guard Kyle Randall on Dec. 17, 2012.
The Chippewas head out on the road for the first time this season when they face Bradley on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. ET.
