PORT CLINTON, Ohio - Arielle Roberts shot a 9-over 81 on Tuesday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team during the final round of the 54-hole Rocket Classic at Catawba Island Golf Club.
Roberts, who shot 80-75 in Monday's opening two rounds, finished at 20-over 236 and among a group of five players tied for 15th place. The field comprised 78 players.
Roberts' 75 equals the best 18-hole round in school history. Laurie Rederstorf posted a 75 during the 1982 season.
Toledo won the 13-team event, shooting 304 in Tuesday's round to finish with a 39-over par 903 team total. Western Michigan, 915, was second; while Ohio, 927, was third.
The Chippewas posted a 340 team score on Tuesday and finished in ninth place with a 990 total. CMU shot 333 in Monday's opening round, and posted a 317 in Monday's afternoon round.
Also for CMU on Tuesday, Grace Labrecque shot 84, Chloe Guschewski shot 85, Natalie Johnson posted a 90, and Amanda Walsh signed for a 97. CMU's Kristen Wolfe, playing as an individual, shot 86.
Wolfe finished at 31-over to tie for 40th place, Guschewski came in at 32-over, tying for 42nd; and Labrecque, who carded CMU's lone birdie in Tuesday's final round, finished at 33-over and tied for 45th.
Sathika Ruenreong of host Toledo captured medalist honors by defeating Kaitlyn Wakins of Western Michigan on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff. Ruenreong and Watkins finished tied at 2-over 218 after 54 holes.
It was the final event of the fall season for the Chippewas. Labrecque, a senior, was the lone non-freshman to represent CMU in the tournament.
It was the first time Central Michigan fielded a women's varsity golf team since 1982.
