Simmons Named Player of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Rayshawn Simmons was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Simmons, a senior guard, scored a career-high 30 points Friday in leading the Chippewas to an 89-83 victory over Jacksonville State.

Simmons played the entire game and committed just one turnover while notching four rebounds and three assists. He made 53 percent (8-of-15) of his field goal attempts overall, and was 12-of-15 (80 percent) from the free throw line.

Simmons' pervious career-best point total (20) came last season in a victory over Central Penn.

CMU plays host to Alma on Tuesday (7 p.m.) in a non-conference game.
