ESTERO, Fla. (AP) -- J.J. Panoske scored 18 on 6-of-9 shooting and Jordan Johnson added 17 points - including three free throws in the final 26 seconds - with nine assists to help Milwaukee held off Central Michigan 84-78 Wednesday in the Gulf Coast Showcase.

Akeem Springs and Matt Tiby scored 13 apiece and Cody Wichmann added 10 points for Milwaukee (5-3).

Springs scored seven during an 18-2 run that put the Panthers up 64-48 with 8:48 to play.

Central Michigan's Rayshawn Simmons scored seven-consecutive points to cap an 11-2 run and pull the Chippewas (2-3) within four, 79-75, with 28 seconds left.

Johnson hit a pair of free throws and, after Simmons missed a 3, Tiby hit two more to put Milwaukee up eight with 11 seconds remaining.

Simmons scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half and finished with seven assists for Central Michigan.
