MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan men's and women's track & field teams will face another weekend in which they split into two squads.
Distance runners Ben Wynsma, Nate Ghena, Joseph Emmanuel and Kelly Schubert will represent CMU at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa. The meet will start on Saturday at 2:45 p.m.
The remainder of the Chippewas will bus to Rochester Hills for the Oakland University Invitational.
"We're in search of sun and warm weather," Mark Guthrie, CMU's director of track & field/cross country, said jokingly. "A lot of people did not compete last week, so we are going to take a pretty significant contingent to Oakland. Everyone's going to get a chance to run that needs to run, throw, etc."
CMU will be competing against Indiana, Purdue, Detroit Mercy, Valparaiso and the host Grizzlies. The event is slated to start Saturday at 11 a.m.
Due to the weather, many of the Chippewas had last weekend off. This weekend is looking bright as there is minimal chance of rain in the forecast.
CMU distance runner Abbey Kelto will take the weekend off. She qualified for the NCAA first round in the 10,000-meter run last Friday at the Stanford Invitational, breaking the school record in the event by more than 40 seconds.
