Hines Leads CMU on Day 1 at KZoo Classic

PORTAGE, Mich. - Holly Hines shot 78-77 - 155 Monday to lead the Central Michigan golf team in the first round of the KZoo Classic at The Moors Golf Club.
The Chippewas posted a 324 team score in Monday's opening round and came back with a 320 in the afternoon 18 and stand in seventh place in the 10-team event with a 644 total.
The third and final round in the 54-hole tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Hines is tied for 17th in the 54-player field. The junior from Three Rivers played the final 10 holes of her first round in even par en route to her 78. She recorded two birdies on her second round.
Also for CMU on Monday, Danielle Sawyer shot 80-81 - 161, and is tied for 29th; Kristen Wolfe shot 82-81 -- 163, Natalie Johnson shot 84-81 -- 165, and Katie Logan shot 85-81 - 166.
CMU's Bria Colosky, playing as an individual, shot 78-78 - 156 and is among a group tied for 20th.
Hailey Hrynewich of Ohio leads the tournament at 2-under par after a pair of 71s on Monday. She holds a two-shot lead over Eastern Michigan's Thelma Beck.
Eastern Michigan tops the team standings after shooting 293-298 - 591. The Eagles lead second-place Ball State by 13 shots.
