MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Marcus Keene was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for men's basketball for the second consecutive week.
Keene, the nation's leading scorer, averaged 32.5 points, 8.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds as the Chippewas split a pair of games last week with Green Bay and Illinois.
Against Green Bay, Keene captured the national spotlight with a 40-point, 11-assist performance. He also pulled down seven rebounds in leading the Chippewas to a 107-97 win and a sweep of the season series with the Phoenix.
The point and assist totals were career bests for the 5-foot-9 junior from San Antonio, who exploded in the second half to score 31 of his points. He shot 52 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3- point range, and 91 percent from the free throw line. It was his second double-double of the season.
Keene scored 25 points on Saturday in the Chippewas' 92-73 loss at Illinois. He also recorded five assists and five rebounds.
Keene, the nation's leading scorer at 30.8 points per game, has scored at least 23 points in all 11 of CMU's games this season.
The Chippewas (8-3) play at Montana State on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
