BRADENTON, Fla. - The Central Michigan women's golf team fell to Ohio, 4-1, Tuesday in its final match of the Mid-American Conference Match Play Challenge at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
The Chippewas finished 10th, going 1-2 in the 12-team event. They opened on Monday with a loss to Florida Gulf Coast, then defeated Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne on Monday afternoon.
"I'm encouraged by some of the things I saw," CMU coach Cheryl Stacy said. "Each day we got better. We obviously still have some things to work on. I felt like that as the days went on they felt more comfortable.
"I think we're all encouraged and it was good to have a match-play tournament early in the year. It's good practice. I think each of our players can take something from it and gain some confidence from it."
Freshman Bria Colosky posted CMU's lone victory on Tuesday, winning 3 and 1.
Also for CMU, Natalie Johnson and Kristen Wolfe dropped their respective matches, 4 and 3; Chloe Guschewski fell, 1-up; and Holly Hines dropped a 2-up decision.
The Chippewas return to action March 11-13 at the Clover Cup, hosted by Notre Dame, at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
