
Chippewa Men Welcome Eureka For Saturday Matinee

SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan men's basketball team will entertain Eureka in a nonconference game at McGuirk Arena on Saturday (1 p.m.).
GOING NORTH
Saturday's game is the third of the season for the Chippewas (1-1), who opened with a 60-point home victory over Siena Heights and then dropped a 72-65 decision at Michigan on Tuesday.
The Chippewas head to the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage next week. They open on Wednesday, Nov. 22, against Sam Houston State at 6:30 p.m. CMU will play two more games in the tournament from Thursday-Saturday.
EARLY TRENDS
The Chippewas may have opened some eyes with their performance against Michigan, the defending Big Ten Tournament champion. The Chippewas led for all but the final 49 seconds of the first half and it was a two- or three-possession game until the final horn.
Shawn Roundtree, a junior guard, is leading the Chippewas in scoring at 16.5 points per game. He is one of four Chippewas who are averaging in double figures.
Senior forward Cecil Williams has emerged as a statistical leader for the Chippewas. He ranks second on the squad in scoring (13.5 per game) and leads it in rebounding (8.5).
Roundtree and Williams share the team lead with 3.0 assists per game.
MEET THE RED DEVILS
Eureka College is an NCAA Division III school located in Eureka, Ill. The Red Devils, who opened with a 117-52 victory over Robert Morris-Springfield, play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The win over Robert Morris-Springfield was Eureka's most lopsided since 1994. The Red Devils returned three starters from a team that averaged 90.5 points per game in 2016-17.
