
Roundtree Earns Weekly MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Shawn Roundtree was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for men's basketball.
Roundtree, a junior in his first season at CMU after transferring from Mineral Area (Mo.) College, was named the Most Outstanding Player in leading the Chippewas to a 3-0 finish and the championship of the 40th and final Great Alaska Shootout.
Roundtree averaged 15 points, 5.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds in CMU's three games in the tournament as it became the first MAC team to win the Shootout.
In CMU's tourney opener, Roundtree scored a game-high 20 points to go along with six assists and three rebounds in a comfortable 71-60 win over Sam Houston State. In the semifinals, Roundtree came through in the clutch, draining a 3-pointer with 3.8 seconds left to lift CMU to a 56-53 win over Cal Poly. In the championship game, Roundtree shined once again, scoring a team-high 15 points and tied his season-best with six assists in a 75-72 win over Cal State Bakersfield. Roundtree broke a 72-72 tie with two free throws with 1:51 remaining.
Roundtree, who hails from Edwardsville, Ill., leads the Chippewas in scoring at 14.2 points per game.
THREE-GAME HOME STAND ON TAP
Coming off its historic title win at the 2017 Great Alaska Shootout, Central Michigan, which sits tied atop the MAC West standings with a 5-1 record, returns to McGuirk Arena for a three-game home stand, beginning on Friday, Dec. 1 when the Chippewas host Jackson State (2-4). CMU will then face Montana State (4-3) on Tuesday, Dec. 5 (7 p.m.) and Tennessee Tech (6-1) on Saturday, Dec. 9 (1 p.m.).
