SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan men's basketball team plays its final road nonconference game of the season on Tuesday (8 pm.) at Missouri-Kansas City.
WHERE THEY STAND
The Chippewas are 8-2 after their win streak ended at seven games on Saturday with an 86-80 loss at Southern Utah. Southern Utah's 86 points was a season high for a CMU opponent.
AMONG THE BEST
Despite surrendering 86 points, the Chippewas remain among the top defensive teams in the nation. They are allowing 63.9 points per game, which ranks 34th among the 351 teams in Division I.
LEADERS
Senior forward Cecil Williams, who posted his fourth career double-double in Saturday's loss to Southern Utah, shares the team lead in scoring for CMU with junior guard Shawn Roundtree. Both average 13.9 points per game.
Sophomore forward David DiLeo ranks third on the team in scoring at 12.9 per game, and three other Chippewas - Luke Meyer, Gavin Peppers and Kevin McKay - average at least 8.5 points per game.
SCOUTING
UMKC (3-9) has lost four straight games, capped by a 77-73 loss at Incarnate Word on Saturday.
Xavier Bishop (12.2 points per game), Broderick Robinson (11.8) and Isaiah Ross (10.5) lead the Roos in scoring. All three are guards. Bishop and Ross are sophomores, Robinson is a senior.
NEXT
The Chippewas return to McGuirk Arena on Friday when they entertain Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (7 p.m.) in a non-leaguer.
