
6 Chippewas Named A Distinguished Scholar Athlete

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Six Central Michigan Chippewas have been named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete by the Mid-American Conference for the fall season.
The Distinguished Scholar Athletes represent the best of the best in the MAC as voted by faculty representatives of MAC institutions. This marks the fourth year that the MAC has named Distinguished Scholar Athletes, who are selected from each of the seven fall sports' Academic All-MAC squad.
Four Chippewas have been named a Distinguished Scholar for the second consecutive year. They are Joe Ostman and Luke Idoni of the football team, Kayla McClure of the field hockey team, and Megan O'Neil of the women's cross country team. Luke Anderson of the men's cross country team and Megan Kern of the volleyball team were named a Distinguished Scholar for the first time.
Ostman, a senior who hails from Mackinaw City, carries a 3.68 grade point average while majoring in general management; Idoni, a junior from Fenton, is majoring in biology/biomedical sciences and carries a 3.74 GPA; McClure, a junior from Mohnton, Pa., carries a 3.81 GPA while majoring in environmental health and safety; O'Neil, a junior from Stanwood, is a neuroscience major who carries a 3.73 GPA; Anderson, a junior from Palms, is an economics major who carries a 3.60 GPA; and Kern, a sophomore from LaGrange, Ill., carries a 4.00 GPA while majoring in biology/pre-med.
