Sideliners Season Debut Thursday

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - New Central Michigan Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Michael Alford headlines the show on Thursday as Sideliners makes its season debut.
The weekly radio show hosted by Don Chiodo originates from Hunter's Ale House in Mount Pleasant beginning at 6 p.m. The show is carried live on WUPS-FM 98.5.
Also scheduled to join Chiodo are Central Michigan football coach John Bonamego and volleyball coach Mike Gawlik along with volleyball student-athletes Paige Carey and Jordan Bueter.
The Chippwewa football team defeated Rhode Island, 30-27, in triple overtime in its season opener last week. On Saturday (4 p.m.), CMU travels to Kansas for a nonconference game. The Jayhawks, who play in the Big 12, opened their season with a 38-16 victory over Southeast Missouri State.
The CMU volleyball team won two of three matches over the weekend at the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va., and is off to a 5-1 start for the first time since 2008.
CMU makes its home debut this weekend with the Chippewa Invitational. Indiana State, Cleveland State and IUPUI round out the field. The tournament gets underway on Friday with the Chippwewas taking on Indiana State at noon.
There is no admission charge for Sideliners, and an RSVP is not necessary. Fans arriving before 6 p.m. will have the opportunity to interact with coaching staff and student-athletes in an informal setting.
