A Game-Changer

Chippewa Champions Alumni Center will impact student success at CMU.
A game-changer.
That's how I've described the Chippewa Champions Alumni Center in our Fire up Chats and in the countless conversations I've had with external and internal shareholders alike.
On Thursday, September 27, our Board of Trustees unanimously voted to boldly support student-success at Central Michigan University for generations to come by supporting the construction of the Chippewa Champions Alumni Center.
The CCAC truly represents a vision for a unified CMU as its impact will be felt by far more than the nearly 500 young men and women who comprise our student-athlete body. It will serve as a home to our advancement and alumni staff and, by extension, a place our returning alumni can call home when they come back to Mount Pleasant.
It is not a stretch to say that the work conducted in the CCAC will have a ripple-effect that reaches to every corner of this university.
The tireless efforts of our Chippewa Athletic Fund team, university advancement staff and university leadership, coupled with the broad support of our generous donors has helped make this vision a reality.
While the board's vote was a momentous one, it is just one important milestone on this journey. We hope you will continue to engage with us as we move into the next phase of this project. I sincerely hope that one of the hallmarks of the Chippewa Champions Alumni Center is the fact that it came about through a shared vision from all who bleed maroon and gold.
Let's move from a glimpse at the future to the excitement of now and there's plenty to get excited about.
Our women's soccer team is closing in on a MAC Tournament berth in a very competitive league while our field hockey team prepares to enter is first MAC tournament under new coach Catherine Ostoich. I hope you'll join me in coming out to watch our women compete as they head into this critical point in the season.
I'd also like to extend a big congratulations to another new face in the CMU Athletics family, Women's Golf Coach Jim Earle. In just the program's fifth season, our women, led by Senior Bria Colosky, are playing record-breaking golf and have made a statement about where they intend to go this coming spring.
Finally, as the weather cools down I'm excited to hear sneakers on the hardwood as CMU Basketball tips off in less than a month. With the women coming off of their historic sweet sixteen campaign and the men coming off a nice run in the College Insiders Tournament, you're not going to want to miss their respective follow-up acts in McGuirk Arena this winter. Get your season tickets today.
The future at CMU is bright and that's thanks to all of you who believe in what we stand for and invest in student-athlete success.
