
Rob Peterson Named CMU Athletics Senior Associate AD

Rob Peterson is the senior associate athletic director for internal operations and supervises financial operations, human resources, facility and events and equipment room for CMU Athletics, all with a focus on long-term financial success for the department.
Peterson, who joined CMU Athletics this week, also serves as the sports administrator for men's and women's track and field and cross country.
"Not only does Rob Peterson have a wealth of experience in intercollegiate athletics, but as a consultant, he's expanded his analytical and strategic planning background," said Michael Alford, CMU associate vice president and director of athletics.
Prior to joining CMU, Peterson served as a consultant with CarrSports Consulting, which specializes in collegiate strategic planning and executive searches. Peterson's primary focus was strategic planning with an emphasis on financial and facility management. He also was involved with athletic facility master planning.

Peterson also worked at University of Massachusetts as the associate athletic director for finance and administration. While at UMass, Peterson supervised financial operations and human resources. He also supervised baseball.
Prior to joining UMass, Peterson held the position of senior associate athletic director for internal affairs with the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits.
Peterson served as the coordinator of athletic facilities, events and projects for Fresno State University from 1997-2000. He was responsible for seven athletic venues and the game operations for 10 sports. Prior to Fresno State, Peterson served as assistant director of recreation - facilities and events at Northern Michigan University from 1995-97.
Nationally, Peterson has served as a member of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Championships Committee and Selections Committee, and the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships Committee as a regional chair. He is a member of the Collegiate Athletic Business Managers Association and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
