Feb. 6, 2018 Several Central Michigan women's athletic programs are teaming up on Saturday afternoon for clinics inside McGuirk Arena and Dick Parfitt Gymnasium.
The clinics, open to girls and boys and administered by Chippewa coaches and student-athletes, are being organized by the CMU women's basketball, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball teams and are set to begin immediately after the women's basketball game against Toledo.
Tipoff time for Saturday's game is 1 p.m. Autograph sessions with the student-athletes are scheduled and door prizes will be available. The event is held as part of the Women's Sports Foundation's National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the nationwide celebration.
"This day is to honor the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sport," said Heather Oesterle, CMU's associate head coach of women's basketball. "Here at CMU, we have some great women role models, in all sports, who want to share through their sport what it takes for girls to become confident leaders of tomorrow.
"Saturday's clinic will give young girls an opportunity to interact with these women, play different sports, win prizes, take pictures, and get autographs. We hope to get a great turnout so we need everyone to spread the word!"
