Ostman, Clements Medal Of Excellence Winners

CLEVELAND - Central Michigan's Katy Clements and Joe Ostman were honored with the Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence Award during the Honors Dinner Ceremony on Wednesday at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel as part of the MAC Spring Meetings.
Clements, an All-American gymnast, and Ostman, a football standout, are two of 24 student-athletes - two from each institution - to be so honored by the league.
Clements was three times named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete, Second Team All-MAC, and Academic All-MAC during her career. She won an NCAA Regional title on the balance beam in 2017 and in 2018 was the MAC champion on beam.
Clements accumulated a 3.43 grade point average and holds a degree in journalism.
Ostman, who is now a member of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, led the nation in 2017 with 1.27 sacks per game and finished his career with 28 sacks, which ranks second in Chippewa football history.
He, like Clements, was named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete and was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell. He graduated with a degree in marketing with a 3.66 grade point average.
The Medal of Excellence Award goes to student-athletes exemplify athletic and academic distinction along with leadership and service.
