McKay Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Kevin McKay has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for men's basketball.
McKay, a senior guard from Warren, averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Chippewas went 1-1 on the week.
On Tuesday in an 88-75 loss at DePaul, McKay scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting while also registering four rebounds and two steals. On Saturday in an 88-72 victory over Youngstown State, McKay notched his 14th career double-double, scoring a game-high 24 points while collecting 11 rebounds.
McKay made a combined 66.7 percent of his field goal attempts and 90.9 percent of his free throw attempts in the two games.
McKay is tied for the team lead in scoring, averaging 15.6 points per game, and ranks second in the MAC in field goal percentage (.606). He recently moved into the top 10 on the CMU career steals list and is just 31 points shy of reaching 1,000 points for his career.
