Plenty on the line for both Chippewa basketball squads on Saturday
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Sideliners, the weekly radio show that takes listeners inside Central Michigan athletics, is scheduled for tonight at Hunter's Ale House in Mount Pleasant.
The weekly radio show, hosted by Adam Jaksa, airs from 6-7 p.m. on WUPS 98.5-FM. The public is welcome to attend in person and take the opportunity to mingle with Chippewa coaches and players.
Central Michigan men's basketball coach Keno Davis, women's basketball coach Sue Guevara, and lacrosse coach Sara Tisdale are the featured guests this week.
Also scheduled to join the show are Logan Halvorson and Jessica Schuchardt of the lacrosse team, and assistant coach Murriel Page and director of operations Ashlee Villarreal of the women's basketball team.
The Chippewa women's basketball team is 21-6 and 12-3 MAC and is scheduled to play at Eastern Michigan on Saturday (2 p.m.). CMU is coming off an 81-64 victory at Ball State on Wednesday, a result that guaraneteed the Chippewas at least a share of their fourth consecutive MAC West title.
The win, coupled with a Miami (Ohio) loss, moved the Chippewas into a first-place tie with the RedHawks for first place overall in the league.
The CMU men's basketball team is 20-8, 9-6, and takes a four-game win streak into a showdown with Toledo on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas trail the Rockets, who are 10-5 in league play, by one game in the MAC West.
The CMU lacrosse team is scheduled to entertain Cincinnati on Friday (3 p.m.) at the CMU Lacrosse/Soccer Complex. The defending Southern Conference regular-season champion Chippewas are 1-1. Friday's game is their home opener.
