- Declining enrollment and its impact on our financial bottom line had been the main focus in preparing for reductions in fiscal year 2020-21. Now, we face additional financial challenges resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. Every area of the university, at every level, will be affected.
- In response, CMU athletics is working to reduce expenditures as part of universitywide budget reductions.
- The inability to meet the financial needs of the program to be successful was the primary reason to discontinue the program.
- This significant cost saving initiative will result in a projected long-term savings of $628,798.
Does the men's cross country program still exist?
- Yes, this program will continue as a non-scholarship sport once all signed aid agreements are fulfilled.
Will the institution honor existing financial aid agreements for the impacted student-athletes?
- Yes, CMU will honor all signed scholarship agreements for both returning student-athletes as well as incoming student-athletes. The institution is committed to honoring the impacted student-athlete's scholarships.
How many individuals are impacted?

How is CMU supporting student-athletes and staff impacted by this decision, both directly or indirectly?
