MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan head coach Keno Davis has announced the addition of Braden Burke to the Chippewa men's basketball roster.
Burke, a 7-0, 245-lb. center, comes to CMU from Michigan State, where he was a part of three Big Ten championship teams and the Spartans' 2019 Final Four squad. Burke appeared in 18 games over his two seasons in East Lansing, as MSU compiled a 54-16 record.
"Braden is a very skilled, talented player with size and strength," said Davis, "Braden's inside presence combined with his experience will be a great addition to this year's team."
Burke spent his freshman season at Robert Morris in Pittsburgh. He appeared in 32 games, starting seven, averaging 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds.
A graduate of Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Mich., Burke averaged 19.4 points and 12.2 rebounds as a senior, leading the Lancers to a 20-8 record and an appearance in the Class B state championship game. He was named all-state by the Detroit News and the Associated Press and was a McDonald's All-American nominee. A three-time all-conference selection, Burke averaged 17.6 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per contest as a junior.
"Braden is a hard worker, good leader and a great teammate," said Lakeshore head coach Sean Schroeder. "He was a three-year starter and led us to consecutive conference championships as a junior and senior. In his final season, we came up just short of a state title, falling in the finals to Henry Ford."
Burke will have graduate transfer status at Central Michigan after earning his undergraduate degree in communications from Michigan State.
