CMU Athletics Welcomes Chris Walker

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan Athletics welcomed Chris Walker to the department today, Monday.
Walker will serve as the deputy athletic director/external operations.
"I'm excited for Chris to join the CMU Athletics family," Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan said. "He has a diverse background in Division I athletics and that background will help us in providing our student-athletes with the best experience both on and off the field of play."
Walker brings nearly 20 years of experience as an administrator in intercollegiate athletics most recently as the executive director of development at the University California Irvine.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the CMU family and work on Amy Folan's senior leadership team," Walker said. "I am Fired Up! to work with our coaches, staff, donors, alumni and the Mount Pleasant community in growing our fan and donor base so that it provides championship-caliber resources for our sport programs and student-athletes."
At UC Irvine, Walker led the strategic planning for department fundraising initiatives, including record setting Giving Days in each of the past three fiscal years. He served on the executive leadership teams of both university and athletics advancement and partnered with the director of athletics and senior staff on planning initiatives, including fundraising, budgets, facilities master planning along with policy and procedure.
From 2008-17, Walker served as the associate athletic director/development at Washington State University and his resume includes stints at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Southern Methodist University, Florida State and with the Southern Conference.
Walker holds a bachelor of science degree with a major in communication from Florida State.
