Five Home Events On Docket This Week

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The week in Central Michigan Athletics tips off on Tuesday when the Chippewa men's basketball team entertains Akron in a Mid-American Conference game at McGuirk Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
That game is the first of five home events for Chippewa teams this week.
The CMU women's basketball team is set to entertain Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday (7 p.m.) in a MAC game and then is set to welcome Akron for a league contest on Saturday (1 p.m.).
Also on Saturday, the Chippewa track & field team welcomes Detroit Mercy, Lake Superior State, and Alma for the annual Jack Skoog Invitational at the Jack Skoog Indoor Track beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The men's basketball team is scheduled to play on Saturday (4 p.m.) at Northern Illinois.
On Sunday, the Chippewa wrestling team is scheduled to entertain Ohio at 2 p.m. in a MAC dual, and the Chippewa gymnastics squad is slated to compete in a trimeet at Ball State with Illinois State.
• The CMU men's basketball team enters the week 2-12, 1-2 MAC and on Tuesday is scheduled to play its first game since Jan. 11. The Chippewas' last four games have been postponed. Akron is 12-5, 5-2; Northern Illinois is 5-10, 2-3.
• The CMU women's basketball team is 3-14, 1-7. Miami is 6-8, 2-3, and Akron is 7-5, 4-2.
• The Chippewa track & field squad posted nine top-10 finishes in its last competition, the Michigan Invitational on Saturday. The Skoog marks the second home meet in three weeks for Central Michigan and marks CMU's final home meet of the season.
• The Chippewa wrestling team is 8-2, 3-0 MAC and has won seven consecutive duals, capped by a 21-17 nonconference win on Sunday over No. 24 South Dakota State. The Bobcats are 5-2, 0-1.
• The CMU gymnastics team is coming off its first win of the season and a season-best 193.950 score in a dual last week at Bowling Green. CMU is 1-2, 1-1, while Ball State is 0-4, 0-2 and posted its season-best score, 195.675, in a Jan. 16 loss at Western Michigan. Illinois State's season best is 192.650.
